Lepage Research Institute
The Lepage Research Institute (LRI) is a non-profit research organization established in 2012 by professor Demeter Krupka and a group of internationally recognized specialists and young experienced scholars. The offices of LRI are in Slovakia (Prešov) and Romania (Brasov). Its programme is basic research in mathematical sciences on the frontiers of differential geometry, mathematical analysis, optimization and control, the calculus of variations, and applications of mathematical concepts and methods in physics, engineering and other sciences.
The research institute is named after Théophile H.J. Lepage (1901–1991), a Belgian mathematician whose work and fundamental research ideas influenced new developments in global variational analysis and geometry, exterior algebra and differential equations towards topological and smooth manifolds. Lepage’s innovative ideas are translated by LRI towards broader areas of mathematics, mathematical physics and applied mathematics.
